Hotels in Calabria – Italy
Hotels in Calabria – Italy
Italy offers so many unique and interesting experiences; it can be difficult to narrow them all down for one vacation. Perhaps the best way to approach Italy is to plan to follow several different itineraries and focus on a few unique places. You might decide to combine a visit to Sicily with a driving trip that takes you from Rome to Milan. Another option is explore southern Italy and hit Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Capri and the remote area around Apulia. A unique option would be to head inland and explore the mountain towns and lake regions of Italy.
If you wish to bask beneath the romance of a Tuscan sun, look no further than Locanda dell’Amorosa, which was chosen by Karen Brown readers as Italy’s “Most Romantic” hotel. The hotel is located in what once was a small village, which has been converted into a hotel, restaurant, extensive wine cellar and wine-making facilities. You can wander the grounds, take a dip in the pool or sip a glass of wine from one of the well-appointed common areas and share your daily adventures with other guests. The guest rooms are simple, yet elegant with a few antiques and lovely views. The hotel’s restaurant boasts an amazing setting, perfect for a romantic Italian dinner.
Sweden Ice Hotel
Sweden Ice Hotel
The Original Ice Hotel is located in Jukkasjarvi, a small village at 200 kilometers north of Arctic Circle in Sweden. Only the alliance between the nature’s beauty along with the human touch makes creating a wonder possible. And this is what has happened with this hotel. Long back when the place used be a vacant land covered with snow, a small brook called the Torne used to flow through its bosom echoing the silence of the land. This river is the life source and backbone of the Ice Hotel. For the hotel has been created with the ice and snow from this river.
An ice hotel is a temporary hotel made up of snow, sculpted blocks of ice, and some steel framing. They are promoted by their sponsors and have special features for travelers who are interested in novelties and unusual environments, and thus are in the class of destination hotels. Their lobbies are often filled with ice sculptures, and food and beverages are specially chosen for the circumstances.
10 000 tons of crystal clear ice from the ‘ice manufacturing plant’, the Torne River, and 30 000 tons of pure snow generously supplied by Mother Nature are needed to build the Ice Hotel every year. The hotel sleeps over 100 guests, and every bedroom is unique.
Covering more than 30,000 square feet, the Ice Hotel includes an Ice Chapel, the hotel itself, an ice art exhibition hall, a cinema and last but not least, the world famous ‘Absolut Ice Bar’.
At the Ice Hotel, you can find every bit of luxury, fun and entertainment. It offers two types of unique accommodations – cold and warm. To enjoy Ice Hotel at its best, it is suggested that you stay at least for one night at the cold accommodation and then shift to the usual warm accommodation. The hotel has all types of luxurious facilities with eye feasting interior decoration and wonderful natural beauty all around.
At the Ice Hotel you can spend your evenings at the absolute ice bar with cool music playing in background. You can also simply walk around at the art and design exhibition center and let yourself be mesmerized with the fleeting beauty of the ice sculptures. And if you are a regular churchgoer, you do not have to miss the Sunday service for you will find the Ice Church which holds regular mass at such an unusual ambience. You can also plan your wedding at the ice chapel to spend the most beautiful day of your life in the most exquisite way.
However, if you want thrill and excitement, then this hotel will not disappoint you. You can taste the ecstasy of adventure at Ice Hotel on spot. You can even go for safaris and special excursions which include the famous arctic trail snowmobile safaris. To celebrate in the excitement of speed, you can participate or watch the ice-driving event. Do not forget to pamper your taste buds at the restaurants here for the Ice hotel is known for both exotic and homestead cuisine. You can also spend some enchanting moments at the wilderness camp.
Hydropolis Underwater Hotel
Hydropolis Underwater Hotel
Hydropolis is the world’s first underwater luxury hotel still under construction. It is located 66 feet below the surface of the Persian Gulf, just off Jumeira beach in Dubai. Its transparent constructions will allow guests to see the aquatic life. It will consist of three aspects; the land station, the connecting tunnel and 220 suits. The visitors will be welcomed at the land station. The tunnel will be used to transfer people by train to the main area of the hotel. This unique architecture will occupy an area of 260 hectare. There will be a variety of facilities like a cosmetic surgical clinic, a marine biological research laboratory and conference requirements. It will also have a huge aquarium. This project is supposed to be completed in the year 2009. Have a look at this luxury hotel which will be an attraction in Dubai. You can experience your stay underwater after its launch. This hotel aims to create awareness about the sea and the marine life. Shopping, dining, partying, travelling and staying in Dubai are majestic experiences. Live life king size while holidaying in Dubai. Have you ever though of spending holidays under water? Try it out at Dubai.
The £300m, 220-suite hotel was due to open by the end of 2006 but has experienced delays and is now scheduled to open in 2009. It will incorporate a host of innovations that will take it far beyond the original blueprint for an underwater complex worthy of Jules Verne.
There are only a few locations in the world where such a grandiose dream could be realised. A high proportion of today’s architectural marvels are materialising like fanciful mirages from the desert sands. We have come to expect extravagant enterprises to be mounted in the Middle East, and especially in Dubai. “This venture could only be born here in Dubai,” says Hauser. “It [has] a very open-minded, international community – and that’s what makes it so special.”
The land on which Hydropolis is being built belongs to His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. It was his last free beach property on this stretch of coast. The project is a fantastic one, yet Sheikh Mohammed’s success record with comparable schemes instils confidence that science fiction can become fact. With his support, several companies have been formed to kick-start this phenomenal project, and around 150 firms are currently involved.
“There have been many visions of colonising the sea – Jules Verne, Jean Gusto and several Japanese architects – but no one has ever managed to realise this dream,” says Hauser. “That was the most challenging factor, and that’s what makes it so fascinating. Despite being a dream of mankind for centuries, nobody has ever been able to make living underwater possible.”
MARINE ARCHITECTURE
This structure promises to be a conceptual as well as a physical landmark. While human beings accept the existence of water, we have only a superficial appreciation of its significance. “We waste it, go swimming in it and generally take it for granted,” says Hauser. “Humans could actually live self-sufficiently underwater, generating energy, nurturing food supplies and so on. This is why we are starting a foundation to demonstrate something of the importance of water in our lives.
“My general plan was to create a living space in the sea. My initial proposal was a deep-sea project, which looked very different. I had to adjust to the local reality of the natural surroundings and change to a shallow-water construction.
“We want to create the first ever faculty for marine architecture because I believe that the future lies in the sea, including the future of city planning. I am certain that one day a whole city will be built in the sea. Our aim is to lay the first mosaic by colonising the sea.”
Hauser plans to incorporate many different elements associated with the sea. The cosmetics will be ocean-based, the cinemas will screen films that focus on aquatic themes and a children’s seaworld will educate as well as entertain.
He views his creation as a place where those who do not dive – or do not even swim – can experience the tranquillity and inspiration of the underwater world. “We are expecting around 3,000 visitors a day in addition to the hotel guests. The aim is to inspire people to develop a new awareness of the sea.”
As well as emphasising the positive aspects of water, Hauser also believes we are systematically destroying marine life, and thus wishes to draw attention to various dangers and problems, such as the loss of algae and the destruction of the coral reefs.
FUNDING AND DEVELOPMENT
Dreams, however fabulous, remain unfulfilled without the cash to support the commitment. “The hardest part of the process was finding sponsorship to the tune of €550m,” admits Hauser. “That’s what brought me to Dubai. Still, it was a battle which took two-and-a-half years and proved tougher than developing the project itself. No bank would pay such an amount. It’s a risky investment, as there are no pilots. We had to convince investors that it is safe and will bring returns on investment.”
With official blessing, the Dubai Development & Investment Authority (DDIA) established a framework to handle grants and authorisations. Once the financial backing was guaranteed, the sonar analysis of the seabed complete and 7,000 anchors in place, construction began in summer 2005.
“We are sure that this hotel will set a precedent,” says Hauser. “Crescent-Hydropolis is now planning a chain of underwater hotels, and nine countries have shown interest. Some will be the realisation of my initial deep-sea design.” Hauser has even chosen to make his permanent home in Dubai. “And that won’t change after the project [is finished], regardless of where our next project will be. The infrastructure is exceptionally good here – and it seldom rains!”

- Death Star Hotel
This structure is being built in Baku, Azerbaijan (an ex-Soviet country between Russian and Iran). Now I’m a firm believer in honesty being the best policy, so why they’re trying to construct this under the guise that it’s to be the “Full Moon” Hotel is a mystery to me. Just come out and say it already, Azerbaijan. This is not a 521-foot-tall hotel with 382 rooms on over 35 floors. This is the end of life on earth as we know it. That thing is going to blow up the damn planet. I, for one, am scared.

Built: 2004-2009
Cost: $4,100,000,000
Designed by: Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill
Type: Skyscraper
Stories: 164
Maximum Height: 2,683 feet / 818 meters
Location: No. 1, Burj Dubai Boulevard, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
When completed, this building is intended to be the tallest in the world. Originally, it was in the running with the Freedom Tower in New York, however, the Burj Dubai has the advantage of actually having begun construction while the New York project has been bogged down in political and sentimental interests.
Just how tall the tower will be remains to be seen. With any skyscraper, there is a certain amount of “fudge room” where the actual height of the construction may not be exactly what was anticipated. With a project as massive as this, more flexibility is called for in the design, planning, and execution. At this time, the tower is expected to be 2,683 feet tall (818 meters). However, those numbers have changed in the past and are likely to change again. There are estimates that it could go as high as 3,116 feet (950 meters) when all is said and done. It is also unclear how many stories will be in this tower. Early estimates were around 200, but those have been lowered to 189 as construction progresses.
Dubai is no stranger to monumental skyscrapers, but this one sets a new standard. Aesthetically, the Burj Dubai is a brilliant shard of glass piercing the Arabian sky. It is formed by three main shafts arranged in a Y shape. Their setbacks taper in a spiral pattern until the Burj Dubai is merely a spire in the sky. In any city, this would be a monumental structure. On the flat plain of Dubai, it is a shock to behold, likely to be visible for miles and miles. One can only imagine the views possible from those living and working inside. Floors one through 37 are expected to be a hotel. The 45th through 108th floors are expected to be residential, with the remaining 52 floors being offices, except for floors 123 and 124, which will hold the observation deck.

2010 Audi S5 Cabriolet
2010 Audi S5 Cabriolet
BASE PRICE: $60,000
Alongside the new A5 coupe, Audi launched the S5 for the 2008 model year onward. It features Audi’s direct-injection 4.2-liter V8 engine, basically a detuned version of the one found in the RS4 and R8, which produces 354hp and 325lb-ft of torque instead of the 420 hp /317 lb-ft. Like the A5, the new S5 features an engine placement behind the front wheels, resulting in better weight distribution between the axles. The A/S5 is underpinned by Audi’s newest platform, B8, making its debut here. It is also the floorplan for the 2009 Audi A4, and its flexibility will allow it to underpin future A6 and even flagship A8 models. Detuned or not, the motor is good enough to propel the S5 to 60mph in under five seconds, and carry it onto an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
Like all Audi “S” models, the S5 has sportier suspension, unique front and rear fascias, performance wheels and brakes, carbon fiber interior elements, and the choice of a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox.
A wide 62.6-inch front track, the widest in the sport coupe segment, helps “provide direct feedback to your most aggressive steering demands,” Audi says. The coupe is aimed at the likes of BMW’s M3 coupe — though with a more distinct Grand Touring flavor — and Mercedes-Benz’ CLK-coupe — sportier, thanks largely to an available manual transmission. Unlike the other two, Audi’s sporty coupe is offered exclusively with all-wheel drive, making it more sure-footed and a better choice for those who know the meaning of winter and drive their car year-round. The Quattro system is tuned to provide a more sporting driving experience thanks to its 40/60 front to rear bias.
The car features an optional Bang & Olufsen surround sound system with 14 speakers and 505 digitally amplified watts. Microphone-based noise compensation ensures optimum sound under varying road conditions and speeds. The other major options include a navigation system with coverage for all of North America, a 7-inch touchscreen display and six-disc CD changer, as well as a technology package comprised of a parking assistance system with rear view camera, adaptive headlights and a keyless entry and vehicle start system.
Performance
The convertible version of the 2010 Audi S5 uses a supercharged V6 (the coupe retains the V8) and it’s a honey. Though it doesn’t make the same sweet music as the V8 (its vocal performance is rather ordinary), the force-fed V6 certainly delights in terms of outright performance. Producing 333 horsepower, the 3.0-liter mill doles out thrust in a smooth, linear fashion and makes the S5 feel about a thousand pounds lighter. At the track the S5 cabrio turned in a 5.3-second 0-60-mph time as well as a 13.5-second quarter-mile run. Interestingly, those numbers put this S5 cabrio about dead even with our 400-pounds-lighter, V8-powered six-speed manual S5 coupe.
The S5’s seven-speed automated dual-clutch transmission allows one to choose from three modes: normal automatic, sport automatic and paddle-shifted manual. In Normal mode, it provides swift, no-lag upshifts but somewhat hesitant downshifts. It also shifts into the higher gears a little sooner than we’d like, ostensibly to help fuel mileage. To our disappointment, in Sport mode it wasn’t much different. The Manual mode will please driving enthusiasts who take matters into their own hands as it provides impressive, blink-of-an-eye gearchanges up or down.
Going the other way, the S5’s brakes were strong and easy to modulate: no touchy brake pedal here. At the track, the binders hauled the S5 down from 60 mph in just 109 feet with zero drama. Against the EPA ratings of 17 mpg city/26 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined, we averaged 17 mpg in mixed driving. Yes, we had our feet in the boost.
Being the sportiest member of the A5 family, the 2010 Audi S5 has impressive handling chops, especially in light of its pudgy (4,327-pound) curb weight. The car changes direction fairly quickly and without any undue body motions. The track numbers back up this impression. In the slalom the S5 threaded the cones at a swift 68.9 mph. But despite that being virtually equal to the BMW 335’s performance, the S5 still doesn’t have the razor-sharp feel through the wheel of the perpetual benchmark BMW.
The S5’s precise, variable-assist steering is rather light at low speeds (to make easier work of parking and maneuvering in traffic) and weights up noticeably at higher speeds. But unlike the best systems out there, the Audi’s tends to feel artificial to serious driving enthusiasts.

2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class
2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class
National Base Price $50,300
- Orders are now being taken for the newly launched 2011 Mercedes Benz R-Class.
- Prices start at 42,100 euros for the entry-level model. The German carmaker will offer nine basic versions of the model.
The R-Class has had a rough life. Not only did it suffer from odd, disproportionate styling, but Mercedes-Benz never really marketed the vehicle the way that it should have, choosing to position it as a “sports tourer,” rather than the obvious upscale family hauler that it is. Dismal sales ensued. Makes sense, then, that the 2011 R-Class benefits from a slightly more comprehensive overhaul than the standard mid-cycle refresh usually entails.
This time around, the designers at Mercedes did a much better job of making the R-Class look like a real Mercedes instead of some oddly proportioned utility van. The entire front end was redesigned to look more like the sedans and SUVs in Mercedes’ lineup. Almost everything up front, including the grille, bumper, hood, fenders and headlights, has been updated. The rest of the design changes consist of new side mirrors, revamped wheel designs, a revised rear bumper cover, integrated exhaust pipes and LED taillights. A set of LED running lights and bi-xenon headlights are optional up front.
Interior changes are minimal, which is fine, since we’ve never really had a problem with the sports tourer people mover’s cabin. Look for the typical array of Mercedes-Benz technology features, as well as a new AMG sport interior, which includes different seats, a better steering wheel with shift paddles, a new lighting package, and stainless steel pedals. As for powertrains, we expect the standard V6 engines – both petrol and diesel – to be offered. Us? We’re secretly crossing our fingers for the return of the R63 AMG.
If you were previously put off by the R-Class’ look but still like the idea of a luxury minivan, the 2011 model could be the one to finally check out. We’ll have updated buying advice and full driving impressions as we get closer to the 2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class on-sale date.
Audi GT3 Sports Car Race Car
Audi GT3 Sports Car Race Car
Audi has just announced plans to offer the 2010 Audi R8 GT3, or internally codenamed “R16,” to a very few lucky customers late next year. The new R8 race version supercar features lots of performance upgrades over current R8 models, and has been designed to conform to GT3 racing regulations that require automakers to release a set number of race cars with identical performance specs and styling to the cars used in GT3 racing series.
Homoglamated production race cars such as the 2010 Audi R8 GT3 are an exciting consumer perk required by the rules of some race series. In the past, the rule set which calls the R8 GT3 into production has brought us such cars as the BMW M3 CSL, Mercedes-Benz 190 Evolution II and the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Mechanically speaking, the 2010 R8 GT3 features several changes from the production car.
As per GT3 regulations, Audi ditches the Quattro AWD system characteristic of the R8 in favor of a RWD setup. Rest assured the team at Audi Sport is putting significant attention into the RWD system used in the R8 GT3. The Le Mans racing series Audi R10 has proven, with its unprecedented record in endurance racing over the past couple of years, that Audi is committed to its motorsport division.
Rounding out known info for the performance upgrades on the 2010 Audi R8 GT3 are a menacing track-ready aerodynamics kit promising greatly increased downforce and handling prowess, a 6 speed sequential manual transmission, and a gasoline motor promising more than 500 horsepower.
Which brings us to the next question. Will the 2010 Audi R8 GT3, or Audi R16 if you prefer, be street legal? Audi has not released the official word on this yet, saying only that the R8 GT3 “will offer customers a racing sports car equipped with high-calibre technology and the typical Audi qualities, but which is nevertheless easy to handle.”
The first test races in various European racing series are scheduled for the 2009 season. Delivery to the customers is planned from the autumn of this coming year.
2012 Lexus LFA Review and Prices
2012 Lexus LFA Review and Prices
The 2012 Lexus LFA is an awe-worthy piece of Japanese sports car. Only 500 of these mid-engined cars are to be hand-assembled by skilled automotive craftsmen in Japan.
The engine output from the 4.8 liter 10-cylinder powerplant is home to 562 total horses.
Aimed at hardcore track driving enthusiasts, or simply the insanely rich, the LFA Nurburgring Package will set you back $70,000 on top of the $375,000 you would have to fork out for an actual LFA, which in turn can only be leased. If that’s not enough, Lexus also offers its special LFA matt black finish for an additional $20,000.
Performance
Test drives of the Lexus LFA all agree that it is a well-designed, high-performance machine in the traditional sense that you’d expect from the competition. The LFA will be powered by a 4.8-liter V-10 that has been developed in cooperation with Yamaha. Mounted in the front for this rear-wheel drive sports car, it delivers a supremely adequate 553 horsepower to a redline at 9,000 RPMs. The engine sounds like everything a sports car enthusiast would dream of in a vehicle of this type, whining at the higher revs not in complaint, but in demand for more.
Exterior Features
The exterior of the 2012 LFA is a carbon-fiber composite similar to what you would find on a Mercedes SLR McLaren or an Enzo. The design materials were set specifically for their ability to allow for specialized aerodynamic features for the car.
Interior Features
The LFA will come available with leather, carbon fiber, “satin metal” and Alcantara interior elements, offering buyers a large choice of different shades of leather as well as color options for the Alcantara. With a dashboard that gives visual cues such as changing color with the RPMs and offers the option to show or hide a lap timer, you can bet this vehicle is designed to run at speed and not cruise to work and back.
How the Lexus LFA Compares to Other Exotic Sports Cars
Though not as fast on its wheels as a Bugatti Veyron, the LFA is nowhere near as expensive as one either. The feel of a Lexus LFA is much more personal and tactile to the touch than the Nissan GT-R and provides all of the beautiful thrust and control of a Ferrari 599. Generally speaking, even at $375,000, the LFA is going to be a bargain.
Conclusion: What to Expect from the 2012 Lexus LFA
If photos are to be believed at all, the 2012 Lexus LFA is going to be a brief, spectacular, but short-lived phenomenon in the automotive industry. As only 500 are going to be made, Lexus has made clear their intent to be selective in their sales of the rare vehicle, cutting out those who would put the LFA in a showroom to be admired (but not driven) from afar.
The 2012 Lexus LFA will begin selling in early 2011

Film “Ek Second-Jo Zindagi Badal De” story is of a girl named “Rashi” That girl whose name is “Rashi” but what is written in her destiny she herself is not aware of there is one proverb- which tells that whatever is written in one’s destiny in some way or other the incidents actually happen .but if we fight against it and make the incident happen in a different way- then what will happen?
The biggest prey of the trap of destiny is happened to be – Mr. Vikram Sehgal . Vikram Sehgal is India’s famous novelist who had an affair with many girls in life. But now he is engaged with Rashi and they are soon getting married. Rashi was unaware of all those girls who were present in vikram’s life.
Then destiny played a game. Incidents changes. Rashi worked in a very big company as a creative head. Rashi moved out of her house to go to office that very same day she lost her job. She reached the metro station tired and exhausted where she missed the train. And now for few hours she will not be able to get train b’coz of some problem. May be these kinds of incidents were bound to happen in Rashi’s life. Now from here onwards our story gets divided into two parts. One part narrates that story of Rashi –where she was unable to catch the train. And second part narrates the story of that Rashi who catches the train. The incidents that happened in both stages of lives were shocking and surprising. Rashi who could not catch the train comes out of the metro station, one robber snatches her purse outside the metro station and where she gets hurt. A taxi driver takes her to the nursing home where she is treated, bandage is put and dressing is done. This all was actually written in her fate.
But on the other hand Rashi boards the train fighting with her fate. In the train she meets a person named Oni Parker - who is fun loving, joyful and kind hearted person. After the train journey she reaches vikram’s house. On that day she catches Vikram with his girlfriend Tamanna. Both quarrel and fight with each other and Rashi breaks off the relationship for ever and walks away.
On the second part, confused by the trap of her fate, “Rashi” goes to Vikram’s house from the hospital – she does not know what is happening. Both the stories of the Rashi’s life go on differently and separately .In one part Rashi has Vikram and in other part Rashi finds a boyfriend Oni Parker.
More exciting part of two different stories was the single end of both the stories which was more stunning . Sometimes in life a decision made in one second can turn the way of living of our life.

Storyline:
The inimitable Munnabhai and his funny sidekick Circuit are now headed to the United States in the third movie of the ‘Munnabhai’ series.
After taking on the medical system (in Munnabhai MBBS) and spreading the message of Gandhigiri (in Lage Raho Munnabhai ), Munna and Circuit are now going across the Atlantic. The idea to take the two characters into the US first arose when director Rajkumar Hirani saw Sanjay Dutt andArshad Warsi sitting together in a golf-cart in the US. The thought of two ‘bhais’ being transported to the US took Hirani’s fancy. When Dutt came to know about this idea, he liked it very much and asked Hirani to make a film on it. That is howMunnabhai Chale Amerikawas conceived.
Even though Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi are still working on the script, the film’s producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Hirani have shot a small trailer of the movie.
