Revealing the Headphone and Car-Kit menusPlease note that if you do these next tricks, the new menus can’t be erased without retoring the factory default settings. To do these tricks you need to short-circuit the pins on the bottom of the phone next to where you plug in you charger.

1. To activate the “Headset” menu, you need to short-circuit pins “3″ and “4″. After a short time the word “Headset” will be shown in the display. Menu 3-6 is now enabled.
2. To activate the “Car” menu, you need to short-circuit pins “4″ and “5″. After a short time the word “Car” will be shown in the display. Menu 3-7 is now enabled.

THE REBOOT TRICKThis should work on all software versions of the 6110.
1. Go to the Calendar (Menu-Cool
2. Make a note or reminder.
3. Enter some text into the edit box.
4. Hold “Clear” until the whole text is cleared, then press “Back”.
5. Press “0″. The main screen will now be showing but a space appears on the screen. (you can’t see it)
6. Enter 4 digits (e.g. 1234).
7. Use the down arrow to move the cursor to the left side of the numbers and the space (Down arrow twice).
8. Now enter 6 digits and press the call button.

Wait for a few seconds, the screen should start to flash and reboots. It should alsowork on other menus like the “Profiles” menu.

THE JAMES BOND TRICK

If you short-circuit theleft middle and right pins on the bottom of the phone with all connections touching each other, the Nokia software hangs! The profile “Headset” will be activated. Before you do this just activate the “Automatic Answer” in the headset profile and set the ringing volume to “Mute”. Now you can use your phone for checking out what people are talking about in a room. Just place it under a table in a room and call it. The phone receives the call without ringing and you can listen to what people are saying.

NETWORK MONITOR

There is a hidden menu inside your Nokia phone. If you want to activate it, you’ll have to re-program some chips inside of your phone.
1.
Check your software version. You can only continue if you have v4.33, v4.73 or v5.24.
2.
Take apart the phone.
3.
De-solder the EEPROM (ATMEL AT 24C64).
4.
Read out the data with an EEPROM programmer and save it to a file (Backup).
5.
If you have v.33 or v4.73, change the address “03B8″ from “00″ to “FF”.
6.
If you have v5.24 then change the address “0378″ from “00″ to “FF”.
7.
Write the new data to the EEPROM and solder it back to the phone,
8.
Power on your phone and you should have “Netmonitor” enabled.

CHECK SIM-LOCK

Note – If you bought your Nokia on UK Vodafone or UK Cellnet you do not need to check this because they both transmit on GSM900, and they don’t lock the phones. However if you bought your phone on UK Orange or UK One2one your phone may be blocked. The reason is that they both transmitt on GSM1800. To make a call on GSM1800 you need what is known as a “Dual band” phone. A dual band phone is able to transmit on both GSM900 and GSM1800, so they lock the phones so you can’t use it with any other network simcard. If you find that your phone is locked you can try different software to unlock it. (we havn’t found one that works yet), or you can ask your service provider who will gladly exchange the 10 digit code for about £35.
This is how to check the status of the 4 different locks. Aslo don’t try entering the wrong number, because after 3 times it will block the phone for good.

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112.

If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an emergency,
dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you,
and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

• SECOND : Have you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday.
Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person
at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end.

Your car will unlock.
Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you.

Distance is no object.
You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other ‘remote’ for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the boot).

Imagine your mobile battery is very low.
To activate, press the keys *3370# Your mobile will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery.

This reserve will get charged when you charge your mobile next time.

• FOURTH  : How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone’s serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen.

This number is unique to your handset.

Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code.

They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won’t get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can’t use/sell it either.

If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

• FIFTH : ATM – PIN Number Reversal – Good to Know

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your PIN # in reverse.

For example, if your pin number is 1234, then you would put in 4321.

The ATM system recognizes that your PIN number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to the location.

Miapolis A project in Miami to rival the Burj Khalifa

Just after a few weeks of its unveiling, the Burj Khalifa is already facing competition. Reportedly plans have been floated for a new superscraper in Miami that could steal the corwn of the world’s tallest building from the Burj Khalifa. According to Miami herald, Kobi Karp has submitted designs for Miapolis, a ‘city within a city’ planned for Watson Island. If built, the 160 storey building will be 183 meters higher than the Burj Khalifa. What is more, the Miapolis will boasts of an amusement park, observatory, restaurants, 1.96 million sq ft of shops, over 1000 apartments, 1 million sq ft office space and a 792 room hotel!

The project has apparently been around since a decade with developer Guillermo Socarras being in talks with the Federal Aviation Administration to secure approval for the height of the tower. Besides being a rival to the Burj Khalifa, the new building if built will function as an economic engine creating 5,000 permanent jobs, paying off $39 million debt owed to the City and injecting $2.5 billion annually into the local economy.

The project is currently looking for funding from investors. With Miami’s current financial woes including a reported 100,000 plus properties in foreclosure, wonder if this project is the right defence to promote economic growth.

Digital Media City Landmark tower in Seoul touted to be second tallest building in the world

The second tallest building in the world is all set to be ready by 2015. Located in South Korea, this building will be around 180m shorter than the tallest building in the world- Burj Dubai. The building, Digital Media City Landmark tower in Seoul, costing 3.3 trillion Won ($2.8billion), is now slated to rise 133 floors in height. The Samoo-designed tower will measure 640m in height and is said to be the visual ‘light’ for what could be the most technologically advanced district in the world. The tower is being constructed on the last pocket of undeveloped land in the South Korean capital. The plan is to create a city within a city where all things digital, from music to animation to computing companies, are accommodated.

Besides companies, residences, a hotel, a super store and a convention store will be incorporated in this building. The entire tower will come alive at night as it gets bathed in the light cast by several digital displays.

The entire development will boast of a 1.4meter Digital Media Street where interactive information booths, intelligent lighting and facades will guide you through the ‘city’.

The Mayor of Seoul Oh Se-hoon said, “It will be set in an area of riverside parkland encompassing ecological gardens, lakes, hills and streams – providing heartening evidence that 21st century urban man can co-habit with nature, to the mutual benefit of both.”

Second tallest building in the world, the Makkah Clock Royal Tower, to be unveiled soon

As the space crunch on Earth continues, most buildings are going vertical. The second tallest building, which is just about 251meters shorter than Dubai’s 828-metre tall Burj Khalifa, will be unveiled soon. The Makkah Clock Royal Tower measuring 577-meters long will be 59 meters taller than the 508-metre tall Taipei 101 tower. Developed by the Saudi Bin Laden Group, the tower is a part of the 4.5 million-square-metre, Abraaj al-Bayt complex, of the Kingdom Holding Co.

At the center of the complex will also be The Fairmont hotel an upgrading project called the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project for the area around Two Holy Mosques. The tower will also include the Lunar Observation Center and Islamic Museum.

World One – The world’s tallest residential building is coming to Mumbai

The city of Mumbai is one of the most populated cities in the world. Home to Bollywood, people from across the world wish to call this city their home. The rising population and the shortage of land can be attributed as one of the main causes for the changing skyline of Mumbai. Developers and construction groups are forever competing against each other in building new high-rises to accommodate and profit from this growing populace. But the upcoming project by Lodha Developers is set to make the attempts and projects of other builders seem futile. It is being reported that the realty major group plans to build the world’s tallest residential tower at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore ($425 million) in central Mumbai. The skyscraper, christened the World One will stand tall at a height of 1,450 square feet and will come up at Upper Worli on a 17-acre plot by 2014.

When ready, this 117 storey tower will become the world’s tallest residential tower! The tower will boast of 300 exclusive homes including 3 and 4 bedroom world residences, lavish world villas with their own private pools and a limited number of uber duplex world mansions.

As is expected, only the upper crust of Mumbai can dream of calling this tower home as prices for an apartment will be set between Rs 7.5-50 crore ($1.6 million- $10.6 million) or over Rs 25,000 ($535) per square feet. Lodha Developers has tied-up with the New York-based architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and structural engineering firm Lera for the project. The tower which would be rated as a ‘Gold Leed’ certified building, has already received several pre launch bookings.

The construction will be carried out by one of the top civil engineering firms; those in the fray include Samsung Constructions, L&T and Grocon. The company plans to acquire funds for the project through a combination of customer receipts, internal accruals and debt finance, even private equity finds if need be. Besides the exquisite apartments, the project would have over 2-lakh sq ft (5 acres) of landscape area for the residents, including a special 80,000 sq ft sports club at a height of 175 feet above ground.

An ambitious project, it is sure to not just change but also redefine the skyline of Mumbai.
