Forever to end soon as De Beers set to reduce diamond supply
DeBeers is synonyms with diamonds. Diamonds are rare and they are just about to get rarer, as DeBeers has announced that they would cut down on diamond mining. And they should know, considering the fact that the industry hasn’t uncovered any new sources big enough to match the DeBeers’ biggest mines in Africa or even the other big diamond miles in Alrosa, Russia.
Gareth Penny, managing director for DeBeers cites “A natural supply-demand imbalance” and Des Kilalea, analyst at RBC Capital Markets estimates prices of rough diamonds to grow by at least 5 per cent per year for the next five years.
Dubai leads in the expensive property market with the average rate of $7,000 a square meter
If you are interested in Real Estate and the effect of the economic crunch on the world real estate climate, here is the latest report from Reidin, a consultancy. Their latest report claims that in spite of the global meltdown Dubai is one of the most expensive emerging property markets today. The city ranked first among 59 cities in 34 emerging markets, with the highest average residential property prices. Reidin has based its analysis from data gathered from advertised prices and brokers and revealed that Dubai’s average rate as of February was about $7,000 a square meter.
The Colliers House Price Index report however claims that the prices have seen a year-on-year decline for the first time since records began. The lack of available finance, job insecurity among expatriates and the lack of transparency about project delays and postponements were reasons for the decline along with the changing profile of buyers. However the report states that it is still very early to make assumptions and determine a trend. Despite the declining prices, Dubai is still number one beating other nations like Moscow with average rate of $6,000 a square meter, Hong Kong with average rate of $5,400 a square meter, Beijing with an average rate of $4,500 a square meter and Tel Aviv with an average rate of $4,200 a square meter.
Looks like Dubai is all set to counter the global crisis with its Real Estate bloom.
Banknote Jewelry
With the prices of gold skyrocketing, even the opulent would be hunting for better options. And with so much colorful currency available all over the world, it would make for some fancy jewelry, if you know how to use it without tearing it. The Banknote Jewelry, as the makers suggest, is quite strong and it does not rip or fall apart easily. The banknotes are only folded and not damaged in any way: no cutting is used, nor is any glue applied. And if you decide to use currencies from countries like Australia, the polymer based notes even make the jewelry water proof.

= Play the note 1/2 step down (Flat)
= Play the note normally; pay no attention to the key signature
The above 3 symbols can also appear at the beginning of each line of music affecting the whole line. Also, if they are included in an individual measure, they override each other and carry through ties or slurs.
Compressed Rests. The number on top specifies how many measures of rest.
= Fermata. Hold the note until cut off.
Repeat. Play through normally until 2nd symbol, then go back to 1st symbol and play again, this time ignoring 2nd symbol.
Begin and End. Marks the beginning and ending of a piece.
Tie. Make each note flow into the next. (Do not break them up).

Learn Music
Some people think trying to read music is hard and difficult. The following set of pages will try to introduce the most important topics in reading music in a very easy to understand way. Don’t expect to fly through all the lessons and understand. As with anything new, it’ll appear complicated and complex but as you look at the examples and read the explanations it will make sense. With that said, lets go on and introduce the first lesson.
-
Part 1
Clefs
There are 2 basic kinds of clefs. The clef you will see on your music depends on what instrument you play.
| Treble Clef | |
| Bass Clef | ![]() |
You might wonder why there are 2 different clefs. The reason is that most instruments using the bass clef usually have a lower pitch (sound) and regulary play low notes. If they were to use the treble clef the notes would appear so far below the staff it would be hard to read.
Here are the the names of the notes for both clefs. Although you only really need to know 1 or the other, it is good practice to know both.
The treble clef:
The bass clef:
Time Signatures
Time signatures tell you how many and what kind of notes per measure there are. The number on top is the number of notes per measure, and the bottom number is what kind of note. Let us explain further.
-
- This means there is 4 quarter notes per measure. How is this so?
Looking at 4/4, you saw the 4 on top. You already knew that meant there were 4 somethings per measure. Then looking at the bottom number probably confused you. The bottom number can be 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. Look at this chart.
Let us take for example the most popular time signature, 4/4.
| Bottom Number | Value |
| 1 | Whole note |
| 2 | Half note |
| 4 | Quarter note |
| 8 | Eighth note |
| 16 | Sixteenth note |
-
-
-
- 3/4 is 3 quarter notes per measure.
5/2 is 5 half notes per measure.
6/8 is 6 eighth notes per measure.
For example:
There are also 2 other common things you might see where the time signature should be.
-
-
![]() |
Common Time Same as 4/4 time |
![]() |
Cut Time Same as 4/4 but everything is cut in half. Example: a half note = 1 quarter note, a whole note = 1 half note. |

Part 2
Types of Notes:
1 of the most important parts of music is learning the types and values of notes. Here you will gain some understanding of how the notes look and sound. The
icon means you can listen to it. All of the music samples are recorded at the same speed and are just 1 measure.
The whole note:
Looks like:
an egg on its side, either with a line through it or not.
The half note:
Looks like:
the same as a whole not but with a vertical line attached to it.
The quarter note:
Looks like:
the same as a half note except the circle is filled in.
The eighth note:
Looks like:
the same as quarter notes but with a curly off the line. They can also be put in groups of 4, 3, or 2.
The sixteenth note:
Looks like:
the same as an eighth note but has double curlies. Can also be grouped in 4, 3 or 2 but are joined by a double line.
-
Part 3
Types of Rests:
For each type of note you learned beforehand there is a corresponding rest.
The whole rest:
Looks like:
a dark rectangle attached to a bar line, facing downwards. (1 shown)
The half rest:
Looks like:
a dark rectangle attached to a bar line, facing upwards. (2 shown)
The quarter rest:
Looks like:
a squiggly line. (4 shown)
The eighth rest:
Looks like:
a slanted line with a dot. (8 shown)
The sixteenth rest:
Looks like:
a slanted line with a double dot. (16 shown).

Part 4
Basic Counting:
One of the most obvious questions is how musicians know when to play. Well, its easy.. they learn to count the beats.
First let us present you with this.
- 1 whole note = 2 half notes = 4 quarter notes = 8 eighth notes = 16 sixteenth notes.
Keep that in mind while looking at these examples.
Lets start with this example.
First off, looking at the time signature you know that there are 4 quarter notes per measure.
In the first measure the whole note gets all the beats (1, 2, 3 and 4) because 1 whole note = 4 quarter notes, and there are a total of 4 quarter notes per measure.
In the second example, each half note gets 2 beats because 2 quarter notes = 1 half note.
In the third example, each quarter note gets its own beat because there are 4 quarter notes per measure (time sig).
Let’s intermingle the 2 quarter notes and a half note.
The half note get the first 2 beats, and each quarter its own beat. This makes sense because the 4/4 time signature means there is 4 quarter notes per measure. 2 quarter notes + 1 half note (which is really 2 quarters) = 4 quarter notes, the total number of quarter notes for that measure (time sig).
Lets add in the eighth notes.
In this example there is something new. The + sign. It just means “and”. If you said 1 + 2 + … out loud it would sound like this.
-
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and
Each eight note is 1/2 of a quarter note, therefore it takes 2 eighth notes to equal 1 quarter note.
Think of it like this: the 1 and the “and” are both half of one quarter note and together they form 1 quarter note and from the time sig we know there are 4 quarters per measure.
This may seem a little confusing now, but all of the sudden it will click. You will hit yourself in the head and wonder how you never understood it.
After you understand this, go on to Next .
Basic Counting, Part 2:
Let’s introduce a mixed example.
The quarter note is obviously beat 1 because from the time sig you know there are 4 quarter notes per measure. You also already know one half note = 2 quarter notes therefore the half note must be beats 2 and 3. Finally, you know that two eighth notes = 1 quarter note so they must be the “4 +”.
When many different kinds of notes are intermingled, it starts to become tricky to count. Musicians will sometimes subdivide the notes so the counting flows more easily. Let’s use the above example, but this time sub divide it.
Here every note in the measure is subdivided into 8th notes thus making it a lot more “fluid” to count. Its pretty easy to understand too… one quarter note is two 8th notes, so it gets “1 +”. The half note is really four eighth notes so it get “2 + 3 +”. And the each 8th note get a half so one is “4″ and the other is the “and” of 4.
Here would also be a good place to throw in a few examples with rests. These will just show the counting and will not explain them. Just think of the rests in terms of their corresponding notes and you’ll have no problem!
Counting the 16th note.
Basically counting 16th notes is similiar to 8th notes except that you need to add more things to count with. I was taught using “e” and “a”, but feel free to use what you want. Each part, the “1″, “e”, “+”, “a” are all 1/4 of 1 quarter note. Together they add up to 1 beat according to the time sig. (4 sixteenths = 1 quarter)
Different time sigs and different notes.
Here you are.. the top of the note hill. Just look at these and the counting section is over!
Remember.. from this time sig you are counting the 8th notes.
Remember you are counting half notes, and therefore you have to subdivide the eighth notes and quarter notes accordingly.
These Are Basics of Music.
The Power of the Sub-Conscious Mind by Joseph Murray
Technically speaking, each of us only has one mind. But this one mind has 3 parts to it: conscious mind, subconscious mind and superconscious mind. The first two minds are within us, but the superconscious mind is without. It is the mind of our extended self. I am now reading the Power of the Sub-Conscious mind for the second time. I cannot get enough of this book. It resonates with everything I believe as to why we exist and how our thoughts completely create the life we choose no matter what.
If I am having a bad day, I will go home, flip open this book, and I will always find my answer. I know from reading this book that there is nothing that will get past your conscious mind beliefs until you so convince that part of your mind to make it true. Remember, the conscious mind is the king, if he doesn’t believe it, you have to work on it by producing a better thought, or repeating your affirmation of choice. For example, if you say to yourself, “I am rich,” your conscious will not believe that, he knows better, so you have to change that statement to something it will believe, like, “my wealth is increasing every day.” That is a more believable statement to your conscious, once that is done, your subconscious takes over and works on making things happen in your everyday life. You will notice ideas coming to you that will help increase your wealth, like another job, a potential home business either by yourself or a friend may call you out of the blue with a great opportunity in the form of a partnership. You will find yourself at times saying, “I was just thinking about that,” well, there is a reason for that, you thought it and things started to happen because of that focus on a particular thought. There is no such thing as a coincidence, it happened for a reason. Pay attention to your thoughts, watch how they go all over the place, try to control them when they get like that, and just think about what you really want because you can have it. The mind is a powerful place and that is how everything in this world became to be, it all starts with a thought that becomes stronger and then action follows that thought because your desire becomes that strong to allow it to manifest.
The most important conscious mind power is the power to decide. It has the power to decide what information to enter into your subconscious mind, but most people are not exercising this power. Instead, they let rubbish enters their subconscious mind and thus garbage in, garbage out. The power of our thoughts is so very interesting to me and I strongly encourage everyone to pick up a copy of this book, leave it by your night stand and read a little every night. This book will lift your spirits in every respect, I promise.
Using a Chlorine Tablet Before Swimming
This is the everlasting debate between swimming pool owners of the world. Which is better – to use a chlorine tablet or granulate dust? Sanitation and hygiene are the most important factors of maintaining a swimming pool. These are the most important factors for a crystal clear pool. Chlorine is used in swimming pools to kill bacteria, prevent algae growth and maintain a level pH that is safe for swimmers. Chlorine tablets dissolve slowly into the water and provide and easy maintenance task for pool owners. There is no chlorine to mix, just add a tablet to the water as needed. Chlorine tablets can be one of the most economical ways to keep your pool usable.
Chlorination of a swimming pool can be done in different ways. You can use granulated chlorine or tablets, you can use an auto chlorinator which uses salt to produce chlorine or you can use electrolysis. The point of the matter is that chlorine is necessary for the process. Chlorine tablets are also used to whiten clothes. Teenagers and young adults will take a small piece of tablet and grind it to dust. After this they mix it with some water and make designs with it on jeans or other colored fabrics. In a few minutes you will see the color disappear like magic as the chlorine washes the dye away.
Use a tablet dispenser to shock your pool with chlorine tablets. If you put the tablets directly into the pool, can you risk discoloration and corrosion of the skimmer and heating elements. Tablet dispensers allow the chlorine to dissolve without damaging any aspect of your pool. A perfect pool does not only depend on chemicals though. It has to be cleaned and vacuumed at least once a week. Dust settles on the bottom and it is necessary to eliminate it. When you do not do it for a while you finally get to see the dirt just setting there under your clear water. Automatic robots are available in the market today that vacuum the bottom constantly twenty four hours per day.
If you do not want to have to remember the tablet every week, you may buy an automatic dispenser for it. They are plastic applicators that are full of tablets and they float around in the pool. Most of them will hold five to six tablets which means you can forget about the pool at least one month. Try them and see how it easy and comfortable it is to use them. Test the pool water on a weekly basis. Chlorine should usually stay at a one to three parts per million (ppm) reading. Frequent readings will help you adjust your maintenance routine.
These floating devices are made with different shapes and they are nice to watch floating around the pool. They are also children safe. Your children can not open them to get at the tablets inside. They will only be in contact with the diluted chlorine in the water. No harm done to them at all and you will be able to enjoy the pool instead of working on it all the time.
Leukemia – Herbal Remedies For Leukemia – How Can They Help?
What is Leukemia?
Leukemia is cancer that starts in the tissue that forms blood. The blood disorder known as leukemia is a very commonly occurring form of cancer that predominantly affects young adults and many children across the world.
What are the types of Leukemia?
Most blood cells develop from cells in the bone marrow called stem cells. Bone marrow is the soft material in the center of most bones.
Leukemia is classified into four major types and these are:
- Acute lymphocytic leukemia or ALL,
- Acute myeloid leukemia or AML,
- Chronic lymphocytic leukemia or CLL, and
- Chronic myeloid leukemia or CML.
Acute leukamias generally appear suddenly and affect the person abruptly without warning, thus this term acute is applied to all such cases of leukemia. Moreover such leukamias are characterized by the production of a very large number of immature and undifferentiated cells, this production of cells can go haywire and if the condition is left untreated, the death of the patient can be the end result-such acute cases are very rapid in their appearance of symptoms and in their effects. Leukamias that develop over a long period of time come under the term chronic, the growth of the disorder is much slower and the symptoms are less dramatically felt, individuals affected by this form of leukamias can thus expect to lead much longer lives, even without any treatment. These two terms acute and chronic are broad generalizations and it is necessary to treat them as such, the effects of leukemia may differ from one person to another and treatment will need to be tailored to individual needs and symptoms.
Cause of Leukemia
The exact cause of leukemia still remains a mystery. Experts cannot explain why this disease sprouts in random people. However, due to intensive studies, they have found some factors that may put you at risk of leukemia. Here are some of them:
1. Exposure to high level radiation
Those people who are regularly exposed to a high level of radiation have a high chance of developing leukemia.
2. Exposure to certain chemicals
Exposure to chemicals, such as Benzene can put you at a risk of developing leukemia. Another chemical that may cause considerable damage to your cells is formaldehyde.
3. Chemotherapy
This might seem crazy since chemotherapy is used to treat cancer patients. However, there are some studies conducted that people fighting from a different type of cancer can later develop leukemia because of their frequent chemotherapy sessions.
4. Down Syndrome
People with Down syndrome have a higher risk of developing leukemia because of their abnormal chromosomes.
Herbal Treatment of Leukemia
The first line of treatment that people with Leukemia would most likely utilize is chemotherapy. However, chemotherapy can also assault your immune system and can leave you defenseless against other viral infections and other complications.
Patients undergoing chemotherapy are all physically spent after every session. Chemotherapy also causes these patients to lose hair. This is why many have also turned to herbal remedies for leukemia.
These herbal remedies for leukemia have helped many a number of leukemia sufferers:
1. The nutrients found in garlic can protect our body from infections. Since chemotherapy can lower your immune system, Garlic can aid that problem.
2. You can also concoct an herbal tea out of stinging nettle, elder blossoms, brooklime herb and dandelion to help your body gain back its strength and normalize its primary functions.
It is also important for a leukemia sufferer to have a balanced diet and regular exercise to support their body in the fight against cancer cells.
Along with these, they can also take an herbal remedy that can help promote healthier cells. A product called Bio-Oxidate Defense can help a lot.
This product can support healthy cells in our body and can help the body fight the effects of bad cells. Bio-Oxidate Defense can also up your immune system so you will not be defenseless against other diseases.
This product is 100% safe to use because it uses natural herbal ingredients such as Green Tea, Rooibos and Grape seed extract which are a very helpful combination in supporting the body and help healthy cell growth.
When it comes to the battle against Leukemia, every help is needed. Herbal remedies for leukemia and a product like Bio-Oxidate Defense is just what you need to help you in this fight.

How to Upload a Website to a Web Host
After you have built your website, There are two ways to upload your web site files to hosting server – using a File Manager or File Transfer Protocol (FTP). The first method is easier but time-consuming while the second is a faster method but needs a little technical knowledge.
Using the File Manager to upload Website files to a web hosting server
This method is applicable only if a File Manager (or similar) utility has been provided by your hosting company. The utility is generally located under the Control Panel of your account and so you need to login first. For instance, at my hosting accounts, the File Manager is displayed as an icon along with other utilities in the control panel. The File Manager icon looks like one above.
To use the File Manager, click on its icon. A new window opens and displays the directories at your web hosting account. [Refer image below]
You need to upload all website files to the document root directory which is www or public_html in the image above. Thus, all your website files need to reside in the document root directory.
If you click on the directory name, you get a set of links displayed on the top-right that let you delete, rename, change permission etc. for this directory. [Refer image below]
To view the contents of a directory, you would need to click on the small folder image located in front of the directory name. If I click on the document root directory on my web host, it displays its contents as in the image below.
To upload website files, click on the Upload Files link (refer the above image). This should open a form through which you can select files from your system and upload them on your web hosting server. (Refer image below)
Using FTP to upload website files on your web hosting server
Though, the online File Manager can let you upload multiples file, it is not a good option if you plan to do this for a living (ask web developers and they will tell you). Also, the File Manager does not keep track of which files were uploaded and which were in queue in case you lose the net connection.
What you need is a special service to maintain files on your web site. The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is just that. FTP is an Internet Protocol quite like HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) which you would be familiar with. Using FTP you can quickly and easily manage the files on your web hosting server and the best way to do that is through FTP programs also known as FTP clients.
