Along with reports that Mercedes-Benz is stepping up its U.S. diesel presence in a big way comes news that the company is also expanding its hybrid fleet. According to Automotive News, the Silver Arrow is looking to introduce hybridized versions of the company’s C-, E- and S-Class vehicles in just three years. The move is an effort to prepare for ever tightening fuel-economy legislation in both the U.S. and Europe. The report says that European buyers can expect to see the battery-operated C- and E-Class vehicles show up in Europe in 2013 and that a plug-in S-Class hybrid will debut shortly thereafter.
American buyers, meanwhile, will likely see the tech arrive in showrooms six months after their European cousins. According to Herbert Kohler, the company’s head of E-Drive and future mobility, Mercedes-Benz is currently spending half of its $5.6 billion research and development budget on investigating alternative powertrains.
Combined with a heavier diesel mix, the hybrids will go a long way toward upping the Mercedes-Benz corporate average fuel economy.

The term ’GS’, as defined by BMW Motorrad, is an output of their bikes’ high-quality performance. According to Motorrad, The ’GS’ is not just able to handle everything, it is actually built to do so; it’s the result of independent tests worldwide. Their GS series of R1200 is a combination of easy handling, great touring features, off-road potential, and comfort for rider and pillion passenger.
Features and Exteriors
Since the BMW R1200 GS’ press introduction in South Africa last year, the newest GS model had captivated thousands of riders. So what makes R1200 GS the best-selling BMW model? Well, it’s definitely because of the fact that it’s versatile and sensible. The 2010 BMW R1200 GS offers a combination of off- and on- road features that make it perfect for touring adventures. This bike is a good choice if you want to travel on dirt roads, freeways, and city streets. Moreover, be wowed with the GS’ tall height which is enough for you to see over most standard cars. Also take note of it’s air-cooled motor which wipes away the traveling hassles giving you a peace of mind when riding. And we can’t forget to mention the fact that the bike is virtually bulletproof.
Technically, the 2010 BMW R1200 GS goes by the GS and the HP2 name. The HP2 acronym stands for the bike’s most outstanding feature; the High Performance 2 cylinder. This cylinder consists of twin overhead cams and four valves per cylinder for more effective burn and transfer of gases. The bulbous cylinder heads will protect your legs if the bike goes down on a wet road.
The R1200 GS possesses an air/oil cooled “Boxer” engine, which is known as the signature of BMW’s classics. At 100 horsepower, the 1170 cc motor has been created to deliver a more sharper acceleration and torque at lower speeds. The engine possesses a bore and stroke of 101.0mm x 73.0mm, with the new HP2 heads pumping up the bike’s power to 110 horsepower at 7,750 rpm.
The bike’s adjustable height of 33.5 and 34.2-inches will protect it’s rider from any mud and water while on the go; with an optional low seat to give shorter riders a safer ride.
Aside from the BMW R1200 GS’ new paint finishes, the motorbike is also equipped with a 5.2-gallon gas tank and an on-road mileage of around 42 mpg. When the tank is full, the bike weighs in at just 500 pounds, and can feel top-heavy. The GS also features a unique off-road ESA and ASC and extensive motorcycle fittings.
With regards on the frame, this fascinating sportbike owns a thick tubular steel trellis frame with a 59.3-inch wheelbase. For the brakes, the R1200 GS uses a single 265mm disc and 2-piston caliper on the back, while up front dual 305mm rotors are combined to 4-piston calipers for a strong braking action.

A sports car in a classy outfit – The new ABT AS8
Although only just released by Audi, ABT Sportsline is already presenting its version of the new premium limousine A8, the AS8. The luxury liner has been decently yet confidently tuned by the Bavarian company. “With us this extraordinary vehicle doesn’t lose its character, we underline it”, states Hans-Juergen Abt the General Manager of ABT Sportsline. Even the intention of the Ingolstadt car manufacturer to consistently focus on light construction, indicates how: the A8 is a sporty gentleman, even more so after the power treatment at ABT. Initially the potent turbo diesel with a 4.2 litre cubic capacity has had its performance improved, and other versions will follow soon. “The machine fits the large limousine perfectly”, says Hans-Juergen Abt in justification of the decision. The series standard 350HP (257kW) is raised by ABT to 385HP (283kW). The torque of the modern diesel engine is impressive: 880 Nm (series standard: 800 Nm) ensure that the luxury liner can easily cope with any situation. Relaxed journeys and sports handling at the limit – everyday business life is particularly enjoyable with the ABT AS8. This is thanks to the air suspension, which has been tailor-made to meet the demands of this extravagant car.

Within the space of six months, edo competition, located in the Westphalian Ahlen, has transformed a 5 year old DB9 into an Aston Martin DBS. And that’s exactly what a Russian customer asked for: Turn a DB9 into a DBS.
This not so trivial conversion involved replacing steel body panels with carbon fiber pieces and increasing the engine output from 470 to a staggering 550 horsepower. That’s why it will now do 320 km/h (199 mph) when the old car topped out at 295 km/h (183 mph). Its new 20 inch wheels and wider body contribute to a more muscular appearance, and numerous aerodynamic parts, such as a carbon fiber front skirt as well as a carbon fiber rear diffuser, underline the car’s sporting credentials.
The custom interior presented a unique challenge: The dashboard, center console, headliner, door panels and seats were refinished with utmost precision. The choice of materials and colors was left to the customer, who, in this case, opted for an Alcantara/leather interior with carbon fiber inserts and metal accents.
An additional highlight is the high-end audio system that was installed in the car, promising pure auditory bliss. No corners were cut in trying to extract the best possible sound from the new high-end speakers. In order to be able to enjoy the new entertainment system, a new exhaust system featuring butterfly valves was fitted, allowing the driver to change the sound from ferocious to unobtrusive and quiet.
But that’s not the only function. This high-performance exhaust system which was specially developed for the DB9/DBS also helps the engine produce more power and torque. A programmable control unit monitors exhaust backpressure and opens 70 mm butterfly valves when the pressure exceeds a selected threshold. The exhaust is made from stainless steel and the chrome exhaust tips round off its classy appearance.
A new edo competition sport suspension system makes the revitalized DB9 more athletic. To accommodate different driving styles, the suspension is adjustable in ride height, stiffness, as well as compression and rebound damping. After the DB9 received a considerable boost in output and handling performance, there was one more area that needed to be addressed: safety. This is why edo competition developed a new braking system for the Aston. 405 mm rotors and 6 piston monobloc calipers act on the front wheels, while the rear axle is fitted with 380 mm rotors and 4 piston monobloc calipers. High-performance brake pads and braided stainless steel brake lines are used on all four corners.
This marked the end of the transformation and the work was completed. The DB9 had been turned into a DBS. Rather than just performing cosmetic changes, edo competition had also refined the mechanicals and customized the car according to the wishes of its owner.
The result: A happy, very satisfied customer and a big thanks to the entire edo competition Motorsport team.

The 2010 Abarth Fiat 500C Priced at £17,500 OTR, the Abarth 500C represents good value when compared with its main rivals. As well as the Abarth Competizione MTA gearbox with steering wheel paddle shift, and the electric hood with glass rear window and third brake light incorporated into the spoiler, the car receives, as standard, a host of other equipment.
This includes seven airbags, xenon headlights, TTC (torque transfer control), parking sensors, Blue&Me hands-free telecommunications system, leather steering wheel and 16-inch alloy wheels. A full range of options includes automatic climate control, leather sports interior, bi-colour paint, red brake callipers and coloured Abarth side stripes and mirrors.
Proof that the 500C is a true Abarth comes in the form of its 140bhp 1.4 16v Turbo T-Jet 140 engine, which provides the convertible with a top speed of 127mph and a 0-62mph time of 8.1 seconds. But the frugal unit returns 43mpg fuel economy on the combined cycle.

In addition to Citroen Racing’s official participation in WRC, where it has won five FIA World Championship Constructors’ titles, Citroen Racing has always offered products designed for customers. The champion team has now furthered this rich tradition with Citroen DS3 R3, a model set to make its rallying debut at the end of 2010. Versatile, high performance and yet affordably-priced, DS3 R3 is set to become the new leader in its category.
DS3 R3 has benefitted from the extensive expertise acquired by Citroen Racing through its involvement in the World Rally Championship. As with the C4 WRC, the six-speed gearbox features semi-automatic sequential control, enabling gear changes to be made twice as quickly as with a manual gearbox, whilst also improving the reliability of the car’s powertrain.
The suspension system uses the very latest technologies and has been designed for all road surfaces, from rough gravel to smooth tarmac. A wide variety of setup options are available, allowing DS3 R3 to be adapted to all driving styles. Citroen Racing recommends the use of BFGoodrich tyres.
Built using production-derived components and specific racing parts, DS3 R3 is available at an affordable price and will be marketed by Citroen Racing in kit and ready-to-race versions.
CHASSIS: CITROEN RACING, EXPERTS WHEN IT COMES TO SAFETY
Citroen Racing has deployed its extensive expertise in passive safety and chassis rigidity on DS3 R3. The standard monocoque chassis is lighter because it does not have the supports used on the production model. It has been re-welded and fitted with a multi-point roll cage made of over 45 metres of steel tubing. The industrially designed roll cage is pre-assembled outside the car, which means the welding is of a higher quality. Various details of the chassis design, such as the harness cross-member and the door crossbars, help to improve safety for the driver pairing. The monocoque chassis is delivered with all the brackets and mountings required to assemble the car, which reduces the construction time and cost.
In order to improve weight distribution, the battery and automatic fire extinguisher are positioned behind the seats. A steel skidplate protects the underside of the engine and also helps to lower the car’s centre of gravity. The flexible, FIA-homologated fuel tank remains in its original position.
ENGINE: A 1.6-LITRE HIGH-PRESSURE TURBO WITH INCREDIBLE TORQUE
For the first time ever, Citroen Racing has produced a customer-racing product fitted with a turbocharged engine. The experience acquired by the brand in WRC for almost ten years has been put to good use in its design. The 1.6-litre THP (high pressure turbo) engine is very closely related to the production model used throughout the PSA Group. Fitted with a regulation-compliant 29mm turbo flange, it develops 210bhp of power and generates a torque of 350Nm (with commercially available fuel). This second value improves traction and delivers excellent versatility at all engine speeds.
In accordance with the regulations, many parts have been taken or derived from the production model. For example, the intake and exhaust manifolds, turbocharger, injectors and injection pumps are identical to those used on production models. The air filter, camshaft, pistons, connecting rods and engine flywheel are, however, specific racing parts. To avoid oil surges during long corners and to increase ground clearance, the oil sump has been altered and fitted with a composite partition. The exhaust and turbocharger system is also specific; the catalytic converter is similar to the one used on C4 WRC. DS3 R3’s engine ECU also includes a data acquisition system that is able to check a large number of parameters.

This new 2011 Daewoo LaCrosse is very similar to the LaCrosse by Buick, although the Daewoo brand may help or hurt it’s sales depending on which side of the fence you sit on. Don’t expect much for changes in the powertrain or anything else under the hood, which might not be a bad thing.
General Motors is no stranger to badge engineering – with not a single of its four remaining core brands able to claim a completely unique product offering – but our spy photographer have just spotted what may be the most egregious example in recent memory – the Daewoo LaCrosse.
If it this LaCrosse looks familiar, well, it should! It appears as though GM’s Korean partner Daewoo will be getting an all-new model based on the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. The Daewoo version of the LaCrosse doesn’t look to be in line for any major body modifications, with the only visible differences being a new front grille and Daewoo badging.
With General Motors putting very little effort into the Daewoo’s styling, we don’t expect any powertrain changes from its Buick counterpart.
We hear the Daewoo LaCrosse will likely be built in the United States and exported to the Korean market sometime in the 2nd half of 2010.

Here is a look at the new 2010 Buick LaCrosse, which on the outside seems to look a little flashier, almost like it wants to break the stereotype of being an old persons car. The car features a new fuel efficient engine, and it may appeal to some new customers, but we think most people will have trouble getting past the Buick brand name.
Vehicle Highlights
The 2010 Buick LaCrosse is redesigned with freshened styling, new engines, and new features. LaCrosse is a 4-door sedan that comes in CX, CXL, and CXS trim levels. The 2010 model has about a 1-inch-longer wheelbase and is about 1 inch shorter overall than the 2005-2009 LaCrosse. CX models come with either a 182-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine or a 255-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine. CXL versions have the 3.0-liter V6. The CXS has a 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 and replaces the V8-powered Super as the top LaCrosse model. All use a 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is newly available, but only on the CXL with the V6 engine. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. Blind-spot alert is also offered. CXL models have standard leather upholstery, and CXS models add heated and cooled front seats. Among the available features are a navigation system with rearview camera, xenon headlights, DVD entertainment, and head-up display. Note that LaCrosse is sold in Canada as the Allure.

The Story :
Lamhaa movie is based on the Kashmir valley. An unknown company who is generating millions of unaccountable dollars benefiting politicians and bureaucrats in the Indian and Pakistani intelligence is likely to disrupt and possibly paralyze Kashmir.
Thus Vikram (Sanjay Dutt) an undercover intelligence officer is sent to investigate this highly confidential mission using the identity of Gul Jehangir. The same day that he lands in the valley, Haji (Anupam Kher) a top separatist leader, survives a blast. Only leaving Vikam to wonder whether there is connection between the blast and the operation?
To solve this conundrum, Vikram teams up with Aziza (Bipasha Basu), Haji’s young, aggressive and outspoken protégé. They embark together on a journey full of intrigue, suspicion, betrayal and danger, to uncover the truth. The next Hera Pheri movie sequel is in the works. The movie will be titled Hera Phera 4, though it is the third in the series, for some undisclosed reason that will be revealed in good time. Huh?
The movie will bring back the central cast – Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal – along with Katrina Kaif.
Hera Phera 4, produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, will be directed by Anees Bazmee. Hera Phera, and its sequel Phir Hera Pheri was directed by Priyadarshan and Neeraj Vohra, respectively.
Anees Bazmi is the director of hits like No Entry, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng.
Hera Pheri 4 will go into production in March 2010, reports say.

Audi has just announced plans to offer the 2010 Audi R8 GT3, or internally codenamed “R16,” to a very few lucky customers late next year. The new R8 race version supercar features lots of performance upgrades over current R8 models, and has been designed to conform to GT3 racing regulations that require automakers to release a set number of race cars with identical performance specs and styling to the cars used in GT3 racing series.
Homoglamated production race cars such as the 2010 Audi R8 GT3 are an exciting consumer perk required by the rules of some race series. In the past, the rule set which calls the R8 GT3 into production has brought us such cars as the BMW M3 CSL, Mercedes-Benz 190 Evolution II and the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Mechanically speaking, the 2010 R8 GT3 features several changes from the production car.
As per GT3 regulations, Audi ditches the Quattro AWD system characteristic of the R8 in favor of a RWD setup. Rest assured the team at Audi Sport is putting significant attention into the RWD system used in the R8 GT3. The Le Mans racing series Audi R10 has proven, with its unprecedented record in endurance racing over the past couple of years, that Audi is committed to its motorsport division.
Rounding out known info for the performance upgrades on the 2010 Audi R8 GT3 are a menacing track-ready aerodynamics kit promising greatly increased downforce and handling prowess, a 6 speed sequential manual transmission, and a gasoline motor promising more than 500 horsepower.
Which brings us to the next question. Will the 2010 Audi R8 GT3, or Audi R16 if you prefer, be street legal? Audi has not released the official word on this yet, saying only that the R8 GT3 “will offer customers a racing sports car equipped with high-calibre technology and the typical Audi qualities, but which is nevertheless easy to handle.”
The first test races in various European racing series are scheduled for the 2009 season. Delivery to the customers is planned from the autumn of this coming year.
